The absolute worst gun show I’ve ever been to. They should have paid me to come look.
In my 20 years of being a FFL vendor at gun shows I can say this is the worst experience I have ever had. Terrible!! I do believe I was the only legal gun dealer at the show. No one else was doing background checks even though they were in the business of selling firearms. People just walked up paid for a gun and left. This type sale is illegal. I voiced mt concerned to the Smith County deputy on duty and he said ” I don’t care”. There was no internet available and phone reception was poor. We left early Sunday morning. I will be at the Tyler ATF office Monday morning. The promoter even had 12 tables of gun and he has no FFL. I have never seen anything like this in my life.
News Fash for yah : sales from an individual culling out his collection is totally legal in Texas… and many other states as well. If you were a successful FFL, you would know this.
I just visited the 12/3/22 show. Very, very disappointing. Poorly attended by vendors with many empty tables. I don’t feel my entrance fee was money well spent. Parking is still a problem with the nearby construction, but with so few attendees, that was manageable. Hopefully it will be larger and better attended when the new convention center is completed. Until then I won’t be attending again at the East Texas Fairgrounds venue.
This Gun Show is absolutely amazing! The vendors and staff are very helpful and very knowledgeable. When we visit this amazing Gun Show we always stay at the Best Western In Lindale, I visit this Gun Show every year!
You must work for Allen!!
Hopefully it’ll be better this year… I’ve seen a few billboards so fingers crossed. The 2021 show was a complete disaster. Event coordinator took a majority of the prime tables and didn’t seem to put any effort at all into advertising. I’m guessing the free tables and cut of the entry fees meant he profited regardless.
The organizer had to sprint to the radio station to pay for a spot ad the morning of the show – apparently forgot until then. Not sure if an ad even ran. 50% of the venue was empty, and most people who showed up said they just happened to be driving by. All comments were on how sad and empty the show was. Needs new management or some serious reevaluation.
Tyler gun shows used to be great. 2 stars ONLY because I hope we keep hosting expos in town. The interest is here, the public just needs to actually know about them.
If you see this review, don’t be afraid to show up – just take a good look at the spread before you hand over the $10 fee.
You are mistaken. The promoter has ALWAYS had his tables in the very back of the building, if he sets up. If you see him behind a table up front, he was talking to a vendor he knew. Almost all of his vendors come to all of his shows. They all know he does not take prime tables. Please ask for him at the next show.
Probably the saddest, most empty gun show I’ve ever attended. Half the vendor tables were empty. Definitely not worth the $10 entry fee.
