All about Rocky Rod and Gun Club

Facilities and Ranges:

The club boasts an impressive array of ranges to cater to different shooting preferences:

  • Rifle Ranges:

    • 600-meter Rifle Range (Range A): This expansive range features 15 shooting stations and includes reactive steel targets from 200m to 600m. It's ideal for long-range shooting and load development.
    • 100-meter Rifle Range (Range B): With 8 benches, this range is perfect for sighting in firearms before hunting season or for general target practice at shorter distances.
    • Future 1600m (one mile) Rifle Range: The club has approved the construction of an even longer rifle range, which will be one of Canada's longest public rifle ranges, further enhancing its long-range capabilities.
  • Pistol and Carbine Ranges (Ranges D-G, J):

    • Multi-gun Bays (Ranges D-G): These ranges feature target boards and some include steel plate racks or Texas stars for dynamic shooting. They are suitable for handguns, pistol caliber carbines, .22LR rimfire, and other specific cartridges. Each bay has shelters to provide cover from the weather.
    • Pistol and Carbine Range (Range J): This range is approximately 35m x 45m and is certified for both pistol and carbine use.
  • Shotgun Range (Range K): This range is dedicated to shotgun sports and is now automated, allowing for a variety of shooting scenarios, including trap, skeet, and 5-Stand Sporting Clays.

  • Archery Ranges (Ranges H, I):

    • 90-meter Target Sight-in Range (Range H): This range features a shelter and targets at 10-meter increments from 20m to 90m, perfect for archers to sight in their bows.
    • 3D Archery Trail (Range I): For a more realistic hunting experience, the club offers a trail populated with approximately 30 3D targets, ranging from 20m to 63m. This trail takes about two hours to walk and is open year-round with fewer targets in the winter. Crossbow use is permitted on both archery ranges.

The club emphasizes safety, with CFO certification details posted at each range and a light system for indicating when ranges are "hot" (in use). Shelters are provided at most bays for protection from the elements.
