All about Rockville Fish & Game Club
Facility
Rockville Fish & Game Club provides a comprehensive and safe environment for various shooting and outdoor activities. The club is dedicated to promoting responsible firearm use and outdoor sportsmanship.
Ranges
The club offers several ranges to accommodate different types of shooting disciplines:
- Rifle Range: The rifle range features covered shooting positions and target stands at 50, 75, and 100 yards. It also includes close-range positions for initial sighting in and for black powder firearms. The range is open year-round from 9 AM until legal sunset.
- Pistol Range: The pistol range is a 50-yard range with covered shooting positions and 24 shooting ports. It operates under similar hours as the rifle range and is unsupervised for general club member use.
- Archery Range: The archery range is designed for both beginners and experienced archers, with foam target butts faced with paper bull’s eye targets at distances from 10 to 50 yards. The range is lighted for year-round use and hosts 3D shoots between January and June.
Services
- Membership: RF&G operates as a private club for members and their guests. Membership provides access to all ranges and facilities, as well as participation in special events and competitions.
- Training and Safety Courses: The club emphasizes safety and offers various training programs, including courses for beginners and more advanced shooters. These programs cover essential safety protocols and shooting techniques.
- Special Events and Competitions: RF&G hosts numerous events and competitions throughout the year, such as registered shooting matches and archery shoots. These events provide opportunities for members to engage in competitive and recreational shooting activities.
- Community Engagement: The club fosters a supportive community environment, promoting responsible firearm use and outdoor sportsmanship. Members are encouraged to participate in club activities and events.
Additional Features
- Safety Protocols: All shooters must adhere to strict safety protocols, including signing in and out, wearing eye and ear protection, and following range rules. The club provides a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for members to familiarize themselves with the rules.
- Equipment Requirements: Shooters need to bring their own eye and ear protection, targets, and ammunition. The club provides target stands and other necessary equipment but does not sell targets or ammunition on-site.
- Range Rules: The club has specific rules for range use, including the use of a horn/light system to indicate "hot" and "cold" range conditions. Firearms must be unloaded and cased or holstered when not at the firing line.
