Facilities & Locations

Unlike a traditional brick-and-mortar sports complex, MSGDA utilizes a variety of scenic outdoor training grounds and public lands near Anchorage, Eagle River, and Mat-Su Valley.

• Point MacKenzie: Frequently used for field trials and water work due to its diverse terrain.

• State Game Management Areas: Training often takes place in rugged, realistic hunting environments to simulate actual field conditions.

Services & Activities

The association focuses on developing "finished" hunting dogs through structured events and community support:

• NAHRA Field Tests: Sanctioned events where dogs are evaluated against a standard (Started, Intermediate, and Senior levels) rather than competing against each other.

• Training Clinics: Expert-led sessions for handlers of all experience levels, covering everything from basic obedience to advanced blind retrieves.

• Fun Matches: Low-pressure mock tests designed to introduce new members and young dogs to the testing environment.

• Youth Programs: A strong emphasis on family involvement, encouraging young handlers to participate in the sport.
