All about Cold Lake District Sportsmen’s Fish and Game Association
Facilities and Ranges:
The CLF&G's main outdoor facility is located on a quarter section of land west of the CFB Cold Lake back gate. The club aims to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for its members. The range is private, accessible only to paid-up members, associates, and invited guests. Key features and disciplines include:
- Firearms Range: The club boasts a well-developed firearms range that supports both non-restricted and restricted shooting. In the late 2000s, funding allowed for the construction of proper shooting bays with tables at various distances, including:
- 25 yards
- 100 yards
- 75 yards
- 600 yards This setup enables a wide range of shooting activities, including action shooting events.
- Archery Range: Situated at the top of the property, the archery facilities include:
- A static range for target practice.
- A 3D walking trail, established around 2015, which features various 3D targets. The club has even received funding for a large 3D target, such as an 8-foot Sasquatch.
- Future Development: The association has ambitious plans for a unique, multi-use, semi-enclosed facility, potentially utilizing decommissioned Sea Cans for construction. This proposed facility aims to offer:
- An indoor experience with a heated firing line, allowing for expanded hours of operation (including lighted use during winter months).
- Noise reduction and enhanced safety and security.
- Designated meeting rooms and classrooms for various branches and educational courses.
- The potential to attract users from a wider region and host provincial, national, and even international events.
