All about Waunakee Gun Club

Ranges and Disciplines:

• Sporting Clays: The club offers a prominent outdoor sporting clays course. This is an 8 to 10-station walk-through course that is open to the public during the spring, summer, and fall. The course features various shooting stands, including four elevated stands and one "pit" station, and uses multiple remote-activated traps, including a 34-foot tower, to simulate different bird flight characteristics.
• 5-Stand: This discipline, a more compact version of Sporting Clays, is offered, particularly during the winter season.
• The club hosts NSCA (National Sporting Clays Association) American Field Sporting Tournaments throughout the summer.
• Ammunition: Only shotgun shot sizes of 7 1/2, 8, and 9 are permitted on the ranges. The use of pistols, rifles, or shotgun slugs is strictly prohibited.

Services:

• Instruction and Training: The club offers various programs for new and developing shooters, such as "Learn To Shoot" classes intended for adults new to the sport. These classes focus on safety, gun handling, technique, and guided field instruction.
• Women's Programs: The club runs specialized women's wingshooting nights and introductory clinics to orient beginner and intermediate shooters to shotgun safety, operation, stance, and target methodologies.
• Events and Leagues: The club hosts special events like the annual "Duck Flurry" shoot and organizes regular shooting leagues, such as a 5 Stand Pizza League.
• Target System: Shooters use a card system, which can be purchased and loaded at a clubhouse kiosk, to remotely activate and pay for targets at each shooting station.

Membership:

Membership is available on an annual or lifetime basis and is structured as a "Family Membership," covering immediate family members living in the same household, including children under 18. Members receive discounted rates on targets for sporting clays and 5-stand.
