All about Vancouver Rifle & Pistol Club

Facilities:

The VRPC features a 50-foot indoor range equipped with 12 firing points. The club operates with an emphasis on safety and member convenience, offering:

  • A dedicated indoor range for shooting.
  • The range is open to members from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week, year-round, provided there are no board-approved scheduled activities.
  • The range floor has specific distance markers, allowing shooting no closer than 15 feet to the target hangers and a maximum distance of 50 feet.

Firearms and Ammunition Permitted:

While specific caliber restrictions are not exhaustively detailed, as an indoor range, certain limitations on firearms and ammunition types are generally in place for safety and ventilation. The club primarily caters to pistol and rifle shooting within its indoor constraints. Members can bring their own firearms.

Ranges and Disciplines:

As an indoor 50-foot range, the VRPC is well-suited for disciplines requiring shorter distances and precision. They accommodate and host activities for various groups, which suggests support for disciplines such as:

  • Bullseye Pistol: A traditional precision shooting discipline focused on accuracy.
  • Cowboy Action: A historical shooting sport that uses firearms from the Old West.
  • Practical Pistol: Dynamic shooting that tests skills in speed, accuracy, and power.
  • The club also supports organizations like Hunter Education, Young Marines, Boy Scouts of America, and 4H Clubs, indicating a focus on youth development and safe firearms handling.

Services and Membership:

The Vancouver Rifle & Pistol Club is a private club, meaning it is not open to the public for walk-in shooting. Access is primarily for members and their invited guests.

  • Membership Eligibility: Anyone who is a United States citizen or legal resident and can legally own a firearm is eligible to join.
  • Membership Process:
    • There is a one-time registration fee (unless already a member of Clark Rifles).
    • Annual membership dues apply, with a reduced rate for seniors (over 62).
    • Membership is typically per household, including the primary member, spouse or life partner, and all children living under the same roof. While included, family members usually need their own access card to use the range independently.
    • All new members are required to attend a New Member Range Orientation and Safety Class. This class covers range rules, safety procedures, and club operations.
    • The club has a maximum membership capacity, and invitations to join are extended to individuals on a waiting list when spots become available after annual renewals.
    • Members are typically required to support one of several approved 2nd Amendment organizations, such as the National Rifle Association (NRA), Gun Owners of America (GOA), Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), or Second Amendment Foundation (SAF).

The VRPC is committed to providing a safe and responsible environment for its members to pursue their shooting interests and engage in various shooting sports.
