All about Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club
Facilities and Ranges:
URPC has multiple outdoor ranges to suit various needs, including a main range, a back range, and a trap range. They also have an archery range. These facilities support a wide array of shooting disciplines for both rifles and pistols. The club's Standard Operating Procedures indicate the existence of these distinct ranges, along with security measures like a video surveillance system.
Shooting Disciplines:
The club hosts events for a number of disciplines, including:
- Cowboy Action Shooting: An event using firearms typical of the American Old West.
- IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association): Practical shooting focused on self-defense scenarios with common carry firearms.
- Vintage Firearms: Events for classic firearms designs, including military bolt action rifles and vintage pistols.
- NRA Silhouette: Matches involving shooting at metal targets shaped like animals.
- Rimfire Varmint Shoot: A bench-rest match for .17 and .22 caliber rimfire rifles at 200 yards.
Services and Membership:
URPC is a private club that requires membership. The application process is structured:
- Sponsorship: A current member can sponsor an applicant. If an applicant doesn't have a sponsor, they must attend a board of directors meeting.
- NRA or CRPA Membership: All URPC members must also be members of the National Rifle Association or the California Rifle and Pistol Association.
- Orientation: After an application is approved, new members must attend a mandatory three-hour orientation of the facility.
The club emphasizes that all members and guests are responsible for following safety rules and cleaning up their own spent brass, targets, and trash.
