All about Selkirk Game & Fish Association

Facilities and Ranges:
The Association boasts an outdoor shooting facility with multiple approved ranges, designed to accommodate various shooting disciplines. These include:
- Main Range (Range 1): This is a 200-yard range primarily used for long rifles. It is approved for calibers such as .22 Long Rifle, .223 Remington, .308 Winchester, and .338 Lapua Magnum. It features benches for shooting, and targets must be placed on provided stands, not on the ground or baffles. Handgun shooting is generally not permitted on the main range unless specifically for a booked activity by the handgun club.
- Range 2: This is a 100-yard range, also approved for rifle shooting from benches, with accepted calibers including .22 Long Rifle, .223 Remington, and .308 Winchester. Shotguns may also be used on Range 2. Handgun shooting is no longer allowed on this range. Targets must be set up to impact the end berm directly.
- Trap Range (Range 3): This range is specifically for trap shooting (clay birds) and typically operates during organized league nights in the spring and fall seasons. When the trap field is in use, both Range 1 and Range 2 are closed.
- Handgun Club Range (Range 4): This range is 100 yards and is specifically designated for handgun members. It is crucial for members requiring a permit to transport a restricted firearm to be affiliated with an approved Handgun Club, such as the Selkirk Game & Fish Handgun Club. This range has various bays (e.g., Bay 1, Bay 5, 4, 3, 2, Bay 6) with different approved distances for handguns, shotguns, and some rifles (up to .308). Shooters must demonstrate qualification and proficiency before holstering a loaded pistol.
The club also has a clubhouse that serves as a meeting place and likely houses some administrative functions.

An additional fee applies for Handgun Club membership, which is necessary for transporting restricted firearms.

The Selkirk Game & Fish Association operates from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week during its season, unless an event is scheduled. The facility is exclusively for members. The club is run by volunteers and emphasizes members' responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness and adherence to rules on the ranges. They also actively seek contributions for a building fund to undertake further projects.
