Facility and Ranges

The center spans 860 acres and features a wide variety of ranges for public use and members:

• Rifle Ranges: Dedicated areas for rifle shooting, including a 100-yard range with 52 covered positions, a 300-yard range with 11 shaded positions, and a longer range that extends up to 1000 yards for precision shooting (often requiring qualification or membership access).

• Pistol Range: A 50-yard pistol bay with 24 covered positions.

• Rimfire Range: A dedicated area for .22 caliber rimfire shooting with reactive steel targets.

• Shotgun Ranges: Comprehensive facilities for clay target sports, including Trap (4 fields), Skeet (2 fields), and 5-Stand Sporting Clays.

• Member Ranges: The facility includes many private, unstaffed ranges accessible to full members after completing an orientation. These areas are sought out for various action and defensive shooting disciplines.

• Capacity: The entire facility has over 400 firing positions across its different ranges.

• Safety: The center places a strong emphasis on safety, employing attentive Range Safety Officers (RSOs) to supervise all public shooting activities.

Services and Activities

The SVSC caters to a diverse range of shooting sports and offers several services:

• Public Access: The 100- and 300-yard rifle ranges, 50-yard pistol range, and the rimfire steel silhouette range are open to the public daily for a per-person range fee.

• Competitive Shooting: The center hosts numerous regional, national, and international shooting competitions and is home to affiliated clubs for disciplines like USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association), IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association), Steel Challenge, and Benchrest shooting.

• Training: It serves as a venue for various firearms safety and training providers.

• Youth Programs: The facility supports youth shooting initiatives and teams, such as the Sac Valley Clay Slayers.

• Equipment: The center offers target holders and likely sells targets and basic shooting accessories.
