All about Rockford Sportsman's Club
Facilities and Ranges:
The club features a comprehensive array of outdoor ranges to support various shooting disciplines:
- Rifle Ranges: Includes a covered 100/200 Yard Rifle Range.
- Pistol Ranges: A covered 25/50 Yard Pistol and Rifle Range (handicap accessible) suitable for pistols and rifles, and a separate covered 25 Yard Pistol/Rimfire Range.
- Clay Target Ranges: The club has three Skeet fields, two Trap fields (including a wobbler and doubles setup), a Combination Skeet and Trap field, and a 5-Stand field. The clay target fields are often lighted for evening shoots.
- Action Range: A dedicated area is available for dynamic shooting activities like Defensive Pistol and Cowboy Action Shooting.
- Archery: The club has outdoor archery target bales available for use by full members on a designated field.
- Clubhouse: The facility includes a large clubhouse that can be rented by both members and non-members. It features an 80x40 foot banquet hall with an adjoining room, a full kitchen, three bathrooms, and heating/air conditioning.
- Other Amenities: There are also six RV hook-ups available for visitors and event participants.
Services and Activities:
The RSC hosts a wide variety of activities, many of which are open to the public for a fee:
- Shooting Disciplines: Popular activities include Trap, Skeet, and 5-Stand (shotgun clay target shooting), Defensive Pistol (IDPA style), Military (CMP) Rifle League, and a .22 LR Rifle League (Bench and Reactive Target Competition at 25-200 yards).
- Education and Safety: The club regularly offers Hunter Safety Classes.
- Public Access: Many activities like Trap and Skeet are open to the public on designated days. The club also holds public Sight-in Days prior to deer season.
- Membership: The RSC operates on a membership model (Associate and Full) with fees, and encourages members to volunteer their time for club maintenance and event hosting. Full membership grants additional privileges, such as the right to bring guests and building access.
- Community Involvement: The club promotes conservation and supports community programs, including MUCC Camp scholarships for youth.
