All about Range Burlington

Facility:
Range Burlington boasts a heated, indoor 11-port range with a maximum shooting distance of 50 meters. Each shooting port is equipped with a motor-driven target return system for convenience. The backstop is rated to handle all legal ammunition and calibers, including pistol, rifle, and shotgun (slugs only). However, certain ammunition types are strictly prohibited, such as .50 BMG, steel-core, tracer, incendiary, explosive, and armor-piercing projectiles. All projectiles must not be magnetic. The facility operates 24 hours a day, except for scheduled maintenance closures on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Ranges and Disciplines:
The club offers a variety of shooting disciplines and programs to cater to different interests and skill levels:
- Black Powder: Dedicated to the use of historical firearms, allowing members to observe and participate in muzzle loading.
- Bullseye Pistol: Focuses on International (ISSF) or Olympic pistol events, where shooting is done one-handed, unsupported, using iron sights against traditional turning targets at fixed distances. Shots are scored 1-10 and are strictly timed. They also compete in the Ontario Inter-county Handgun League.
- IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation): A dynamic shooting sport emphasizing accuracy, speed, and power, often involving multiple, reactive, and penalty targets with obstacles.
- PPC (Police Pistol Competition): Involves shooting targets from various distances (3, 7, 15, 25, and 50 yards) in different positions and under time constraints, with a focus on accuracy. Centre fire revolvers and pistols are used. Holster qualification is required for participation.
- Rifle: Promotes small-bore (rimfire) and full-bore (center fire) rifle shooting, helping members develop marksmanship skills.
- Silhouette: Consists of a Field Pistol course of fire with reactive steel targets (chickens at 25 yards and pigs at 50 yards).
- Precision Rimfire: While full precision rimfire events may not be held at Range Burlington due to range limitations, a practice barricade is available for use during non-discipline hours 1 for shooting at paper targets, helping members develop skills for this competition type.
