The club is known to have both indoor and outdoor ranges, which allows for varied shooting experiences. There have been proposals for new outdoor ranges, including small-bore, long range, and pistol ranges with earth berm backstops and concrete-filled tire shooting bays.
Services and Programs:
The Noarlunga City Pistol Club provides a comprehensive range of services and programs for its members:
- Firearms Licensing Courses: The club runs Firearms and Safety Awareness Training courses, which are essential for individuals to gain their South Australian firearms licenses. These courses cover all necessary information about firearm ownership and regulations.
- Membership: Becoming a member requires a Category 1 (club use) license. The process involves several steps:
- Completing and submitting a Firearms Licence Application form (PD303) to SAPOL.
- Visiting the club to look around, talk to members, and pick up a membership application form.
- Obtaining a National Police Check if one less than 12 months old is not available.
- Bringing the SAPOL "Permission to train" letter, NPC, and membership application with fees to begin training.
- Completing 8 to 12 weeks of training, covering all aspects of safe shooting.
- Training: The club provides supervised training for probationary members. This includes a minimum of nine shoots under the guidance of a club instructor. Probationary members must also pass the South Australian Target Pistol League theory test and achieve a minimum 50% score in a chosen match to qualify for full membership.
- Competitive Shooting: The club offers opportunities for competitive shooters to participate in various matches and potentially be selected for State, National, and Olympic teams. They host and participate in ISSF Open and WA1500 & AP Open competitions.
- Club Activities: The club aims to provide opportunities for members to compete approximately four times per month. They also have social facilities like a pool table for members.
- Insurance: Membership includes personal insurance coverage throughout Australia and limited overseas travel.
- Constitution and By-Laws: Members agree to the club's constitution and by-laws upon signing membership forms.
