All about Nanaimo Fish and Game Protective Association

Facilities and Ranges:
The Association boasts a comprehensive set of facilities to cater to a wide range of activities:
- Rifle Ranges:
- A primary rifle range with covered firing positions, extending up to 200 yards (and potentially 300 yards in some sections). This range typically features target berms at 25, 100, and 200 meters, as well as 300 yards. Concrete and steel benches provide stable shooting platforms. One section is designated for big bore centerfire ammunition, while another is reserved for small bore (.22 rimfire) firearms with target stands at 25, 50, and 100 yards.
- Some sources indicate a 600-yard range and potentially a 1000-yard range in development, offering opportunities for longer-range shooting.
- Pistol Ranges:
- A 50-yard covered pistol range is available.
- Multiple IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) bays are present, often up to 50 meters, for dynamic shooting sports.
- A dedicated 50-meter pistol range is restricted to pistols and shotguns.
- Shotgun Ranges:
- Two trap/shotgun ranges are available, including a trap bunker for regular shoots.
- Skeet and five-stand ranges are also typically part of the shotgun facilities.
- Archery Facilities:
- An archery wilderness range and a 3D course provide varied shooting experiences.
- A dedicated archery practice range is available.
- Elevated "Tree Stand" platforms may be present for bow hunting practice.
- Black Powder Facilities:
- A black powder trail, sometimes described as wheelchair accessible, caters to enthusiasts of historical firearms.
- Areas for black powder shooting with reactive targets and rustic galleries are typically available.
- Indoor Range:
- A 20-yard heated indoor range is equipped for .22 rimfire pistol/rifle, air gun, and archery. This range often has multiple shooting positions and can accommodate handgun calibers up to .44 magnum, and some sources indicate up to .45 ACP for handguns.
The ranges are generally open from dawn to dusk year-round, with specific closures for events, maintenance, or upgrades.
