Ranges and Shooting Disciplines: Melbourne Gun Club offers a comprehensive selection of clay target shooting disciplines, catering to both recreational and competitive shooters. These include:
- Down the Line (DTL): A popular discipline where shooters aim at targets flying away from them.
- Skeet: Involves targets launched from two fixed traps at varying angles and heights, simulating bird flight patterns.
- Universal Trench: A challenging discipline with targets thrown from five hidden traps, offering unpredictable trajectories.
- ISSF Trap: The Olympic discipline of trap shooting, with targets thrown from a trench in front of the shooting positions.
- Sporting Clays: Often described as "golf with a shotgun," this discipline simulates hunting scenarios with targets launched from various locations and at different speeds and angles.
The club holds regular competitions and practice sessions for its members.
Services: The Melbourne Gun Club provides a range of services to cater to diverse groups and individuals:
- "Come & Try" Days: These popular sessions are designed for beginners, individuals, and small groups who want to experience clay target shooting without needing a firearms license. All necessary equipment, safety gear, and expert instruction are provided, often with one-on-one coaching. Bookings are essential for these sessions.
