Facilities and Ranges:
The club features multiple outdoor ranges catering to different firearms and distances:
- Rifle Ranges: Includes a 200 Yard Rifle Range and a 100 Yard Rifle Range with both 50 and 100-yard target lines.
- Pistol Ranges: A dedicated 50 Yard Pistol Range with target lines at 7, 15, 25, and 50 yards. It also has two large 35 Yard Deep Pistol Bays with overhead covers, ideal for action shooting disciplines.
- Multi-Purpose Range: A 45 Yard Multi-purpose/Black Powder Range.
Electricity is available on all ranges. The club also maintains a business office in downtown Macon for administrative matters.
Disciplines and Services:
The club hosts a variety of shooting activities and competitions, generally centered on getting new shooters into the sport.
- Action Shooting: Regular matches are held, including 1-Gun and 2-Gun PCSL (Practical Carbine and Shotgun League) matches, NRL-22 (National Rifle League .22), and Steel Challenge or other action matches. These often involve dynamic courses of fire.
- Traditional Matches: The club hosts Bullseye Pistol Matches at 25 yards and traditional Centerfire and Rimfire Rifle Matches at 100 and 50 yards, respectively.
- Training: The club accommodates training classes and live-fire sessions offered by members or outside agencies, with a fee charged for range use.
- Membership: Marion Road Gun Club operates as a members-only facility. Prospective members must submit an application, pay an initiation fee and annual dues, and attend a New Member Orientation to learn about the facilities and safety rules before gaining full access. An annual work requirement of four hours is also expected from members, which can be bought out for a fee.
