Description
All about Juneau Gun Club
Facilities and Ranges:
The JGC's outdoor complex is dedicated primarily to shotgun sports, featuring four lighted Trap fields for practice and competition. The club also has a clubhouse, which is a modest-sized building that can seat around 30 people and is available for rent.
The Juneau area has other nearby ranges which are distinct entities but often collaborate:
- Juneau Hunter Education Shooting Complex (JHESC): This is a separate, seven-lane 50-foot indoor range managed by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. This indoor range is used for pistols (up to .44 caliber), rimfire rifles, and pistol-caliber carbines. It features a modern ventilation system.
- Hank Harmon Public Range: This is an outdoor range managed by the City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation, which provides rifle, pistol, and archery ranges for the public. The JGC and the JHESC are physically located near this area.
Services and Membership:
The Juneau Gun Club operates with a focus on its members and the sport of trap shooting.
- Membership: The JGC offers an annual membership and provides club shoots, typically scheduled a couple of times a month during the year, with more frequency during the summer.
- Services: The club has ammunition for sale and provides gun rentals for those who do not own their own equipment. Instruction is also available. They host league shooting and are equipped to handle corporate outings.
- Hours: Club shoots are held regularly, but the club notes that members may use the facility anytime by appointment.
- Other Programs: The nearby Juneau Hunter Education Shooting Complex (JHESC) runs hunter and bowhunter education courses, youth clinics, and competitive pistol leagues, complementing the shotgun focus of the JGC.
