Facility

High Rock Shooting Association provides a safe and welcoming environment for shooters of all experience levels. The facility is designed to foster a supportive shooting community, promoting safety and skill development.

Ranges

The range at HRSA is equipped to accommodate various types of firearms, including pistols, rifles, and shotguns. The range is open on Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM, although special events and seasonal changes can affect these hours.

Services

  1. Public Range Time: HRSA offers public range time, with a fee structure of $10 for the first hour and $5 for each additional hour. They only accept cash payments.
  2. Membership: Membership options are available, providing benefits such as access to special events and competitions.
  3. Training and Safety Courses: HRSA emphasizes safety and offers various training programs, including courses for beginners and more advanced shooters. These courses cover essential safety protocols and shooting techniques.
  4. Special Events: The range hosts special events like Cowboy Action competitions and Women on Target programs, which provide unique shooting experiences and opportunities for community engagement.

Additional Features

  • Safety Protocols: All shooters must present a valid, government-issued photo ID. Pistol shooters need a valid Connecticut pistol permit or Blue Card, except for those shooting black powder pistols.
  • Equipment Requirements: Shooters need to bring their own eye and ear protection, targets, and ammunition. HRSA provides target stands, bases, and staplers but does not sell targets or ammunition on-site.
  • Restrictions: Fully automatic or select-fire firearms are not allowed. There are also restrictions on certain types of ammunition, such as explosive devices, chemical agents, tracer bullets, and pyrotechnics.

HRSA is dedicated to building a supportive shooting community. They actively promote the exercise of 2nd Amendment rights while ensuring a fun and educational environment for all members and visitors.
