All about Golden District Rod and Gun Club

Facilities:

The club provides comprehensive facilities for its members, including:

• Rifle Range (under cover):
  • Low House: 100m to 200m range for short-range target practice.   
  • High House: 300m to 500m for long-range target practice.   
• Short Range Rifle Range (under cover): A 25m range specifically designed for .22 caliber firearms, shotguns, and short-range rifle practice.   
• Skeet/Sporting Clay Range: Features a skeet range, down-the-line (DTL) setup, and mini sporting clays, all under cover.   
• Trap Range: A single-machine 5-stand range.   
• Pistol Range (under cover): Equipped with moveable targets out to 25m.   
• Archery Range: A covered range with 2' x 4' field point targets at various distances including 20yds, 30yds, 40yds, 50yds, and 60yds.   
• Clubhouse: Includes kitchen facilities, washrooms, and a function room.   
• Outdoor Picnic Area: A large undercover area with a wood stove and lighting for social gatherings.   

Range facilities are generally available for member use from 8 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week.

• Rifle Shooting: From short-range plinking with .22s to long-range precision shooting up to 500m.

• Archery: With a dedicated outdoor range for target practice.

Services and Membership:

The Golden District Rod and Gun Club operates as a membership-based organization. A membership provides access to all the club's facilities and keeps members informed about club news, training opportunities, and community events.

• Access to Facilities: Members gain access to all the club's shooting ranges and archery facilities seven days a week.   
• Conservation Support: A portion of membership fees goes towards funding various conservation projects, demonstrating the club's commitment to wildlife and environmental stewardship.   
• BC Wildlife Federation Membership: All club members automatically receive a membership to the BC Wildlife Federation, which includes benefits such as Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) insurance for hunting, fishing, or trapping activities, discounts at various retailers, and a subscription to the BC Outdoors Magazine.   
• Annual Term: Memberships run annually from January 1st to December 31st. Renewals for the following year typically become available in November.   
• Access Control: Upon payment, members receive a range lock code and a membership card, which are mailed to the provided address, indicating controlled access to the facilities.   

The club also participates in broader community initiatives, such as collaborating with the provincial government on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) surveillance, encouraging hunters to submit samples for testing to help detect and prevent the spread of the disease in British Columbia. This highlights the club's role beyond just shooting sports, extending to wildlife conservation efforts.
