All about Coloma Rod and Gun Club
Facilities and Ranges:
The club offers a variety of ranges for different shooting disciplines:
- Rifle Range: This range features berms for shooting from 50 yards up to 300 yards. It accommodates all rifle calibers except for .50 BMG and fully automatic firearms. Steel targets are permitted at or beyond the 100-yard berm.
- Pistol Range: An outdoor range with a 12-yard distance and six bays. It is generally restricted to straight-walled pistol cartridges up to .50 caliber, excluding most tapered rifle cartridges. No steel targets are allowed on the pistol range.
- Trap Range: The club has two trap ranges for shotgun sports. It is open to the public on specific days, and a maximum shot size of 7 ½ is enforced.
- 3D Archery Course: A separate course featuring 30 3D targets along a walkable, wooded trail, which also includes an available practice range. This course operates seasonally.
Services and Programs:
The club is open to both members and the general public for certain activities.
- Membership: The ranges are primarily for member use, though members may bring guests for a small donation to the range fund.
- Public Access: The Trap Range is open to the public on set days (e.g., Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings). The 3D Archery Course is also open to the public for a fee.
- Target Provisions: The club supplies target stands and backer boards for member convenience on the rifle and pistol ranges, but members must supply their own targets (staple-on or stick-on).
- Safety: Hearing and eye protection are mandatory on all ranges. The club prohibits the use of contact/binary explosives like Tannerite on the property.
- Social Amenities: The club also offers a Sunday breakfast and various classes related to shooting.
