All about CHESHIRE COUNTY SHOOTING SPORTS EDUCATION FOUNDATION

Facility and Ranges:

The facility, which operates out of what was formerly the Cheshire County Fish & Game Club, features extensive outdoor ranges:

  • Rifle: Includes a covered 50/100-yard rifle range, as well as open ranges extending to 200, 300, and 600 yards. There is also a dedicated 100-yard .22 LR range with covered firing points.
  • Pistol: The facilities include one covered pistol range with nine firing points, two additional open pistol ranges, and three open training and event pistol bays.
  • Carbine: A specific bay is available for rifle and pistol calibers.
  • Shotgun: The club offers one Trap field and one Five-Stand field.
  • Archery: Ranges are available for archery, including a 3-D course.
  • Indoor Range: The foundation has long-term plans to build a state-of-the-art indoor Education & Marksmanship Center to expand its year-round offerings.

The facility also includes a clubhouse used for classes, meetings, and an office.

Services and Mission:

As a non-profit (501(c)(3)), the core mission of the CCSSEF is to educate the public in the safe handling and use of firearms and to provide a facility for shooting sports education. Key services include:

  • Education and Training: They offer quality, affordable classes, clinics, and seminars for all skill levels in disciplines like Archery, Hunting, Pistol, and Rifle, as well as Junior and Women's programs.
  • Youth Development: The foundation places a strong emphasis on youth education, promoting shooting sports as a healthy family activity and running programs like the Ferry Brook Junior Rifle Team.
  • Law Enforcement Training: The facility is a crucial training site, serving over a dozen local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as U.S. armed services and private security groups.
  • Competitions: The CCSSEF fosters amateur shooting sports competition at the national and international level.
