All about Caboolture Clay Target Club

Facility Overview:

• Location: Situated on Gubbi Gubbi Country at 558 Uhlmann Road, Burpengary, approximately 45 minutes from both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
• Clubhouse: The venue features a well-presented clubhouse, which includes kitchen facilities (pre-bookings essential) and a licensed bar available after 11 am for those who have completed their shooting for the day.
• Family-Friendly: CCTC is a family-oriented club, even offering an on-site playground to keep children entertained.
• Operations: The club is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers who are passionate about the sport. It operates on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9 am to 4 pm.

Ranges and Disciplines:

CCTC is one of the few clubs in the Brisbane area that offers all four major clay target shooting disciplines:

• Down-The-Line (DTL) Trap Shooting: This is one of the oldest forms of clay shooting and is often recommended for beginners. Shooters stand at one of five positions behind a central "trap house" from which targets are released. Targets are thrown "going away" from the shooter, and the traps can vary the vertical and horizontal trajectory. Shooters can take one or sometimes two shots at a target depending on the event.
• Skeet Shooting: Caboolture offers National Skeet Shooting Association (American Skeet). In this discipline, shooters move through eight pre-set stands arranged in a semi-circular layout. Targets are released from two trap houses – a high house and a low house – at either end of the layout. Targets follow a pre-set line at a set speed and height, crossing at the center of the layout. Shooters call for single targets or pairs depending on the stand.
• 5 Stand: This discipline involves targets thrown from multiple traps at varying angles and speeds, providing a dynamic and challenging experience.
• Sporting Clays: Often referred to as "golf with a shotgun," Sporting Clays simulates hunting conditions by presenting targets that mimic various game birds or animals in flight or on the ground.

• Practice Sessions: CCTC holds regular practice sessions throughout the week for various disciplines.
• Competitions: The club hosts regular competitions for its members across all disciplines.
• Group Bookings: CCTC offers popular group clay target shooting sessions, ideal for team building, buck's or hen's parties, or other group events. These sessions are designed for novice and "have a go" shooters and include safety instructions, use of club guns, ammunition, targets, and safety gear (ear and eye protection). Bookings are available on the first three Saturdays of the month and generally run for two to three hours.
• "Have a Go" Packages: These packages are specifically designed for beginners, providing expert instruction and a guaranteed chance to hit targets. They often include a warm-up session and a friendly competition.
• Private Packages: Tailored experiences are available for individuals or small groups seeking personalized instruction.
• Corporate and Larger Group Bookings: These require advance booking and a deposit, with sessions starting early in the morning.
• Firearms Safety Courses: As a long-standing training partner of Asset College, CCTC can deliver accredited firearms safety courses for various license categories, including ABH, AB, H, and Category C and D.
• Club Gun Use: The club provides a range of shotguns suitable for all ages and skill levels for use during group bookings and "have a go" sessions.
• Coaching: Experienced instructors and coaches are available to provide guidance and one-on-one tuition to help shooters improve their skills.
• Catering: Facilities are available for groups to do their own catering, and hot food is often available during monthly competitions.
