Services:
The Adelaide Pistol & Shooting Club provides a comprehensive range of services to its members and prospective members:
- Training and Licensing Assistance: APSC has fully qualified trainers and nationally accredited coaches in various disciplines. They assist individuals in obtaining their firearms license by guiding them through the application process with SAPOL (South Australia Police), understanding state and national requirements, and undertaking necessary courses (such as the Pistol Course for handgun ownership). The club also offers Firearms Safety and Awareness Courses.
- Coaching: Accredited coaches are available to help members refine their shooting skills and improve their performance across all disciplines.
- Club Firearms: Once licensed, club members can utilize club firearms to practice and enhance their skills before acquiring their own. Visitors can also use club firearms under the direct supervision of qualified range officers.
- Membership: The club welcomes both experienced shooters and those new to the sport. Prospective members can visit the club and engage in supervised shoots to determine if the club and the sport are a good fit. Membership applications require a "fit and proper person" check, a current firearms license (or approval letter from SAPOL), references, and a criminal history report. Probationary periods apply for new members without a handgun license, requiring supervised shoots and theoretical/practical assessments before full membership is granted. Full members are required to be "active" (participating in a minimum number of competitive shoots per year) and "financial" (paying annual subscription fees).
- Events and Competitions: APSC regularly hosts club activities, competitions, and can host larger state and national titles due to its extensive facilities.
- Community: The club fosters a strong sense of community, encouraging members to connect, share knowledge, and participate in friendly competition in a supportive environment. It caters to a wide age range, from juniors (13 years and older) to seniors, with a diverse membership from all sections of society.
Safety:
Safety is paramount at the Adelaide Pistol & Shooting Club, emphasized as "SAFETY First & Always." Qualified range officers are on duty to ensure safe practices, and training programs heavily focus on firearm safety and regulations.
